About us:
KYPSO is Kentucky’s most extensive source of data for post-school outcomes of students who received special education services, and a leading provider of technical assistance for transition planning. KYPSO develops and oversees the Youth One Year Out (YOYO), which is a former student interview that collects valuable post-school outcome data. This data includes measures of post-secondary education and employment for students with disabilities one year after exiting high school. KYPSO analyzes data from former student experiences with the intent of helping future students have post-school outcomes that are meaningful, integrated, and competitive. This data is used for research by both KYPSO, the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE), the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR), and other stakeholders.
Our Team
The KYPSO Team comprises individuals with backgrounds in education, data analysis, research, and technological and technical support who are passionate about improving post-school outcomes. Check out our profiles and contact information. We look forward to chatting with you!
Mission
The mission of the Kentucky Post School Outcomes Center (KYPSO) is to increase the capacity of Local Education Agencies (LEAs), teachers, parents, and adult service providers to provide exemplary transition planning and increase student post-school success. KYPSO works closely with these units as well as Special Education Regional Technical Assistance Centers (SERTACs) and the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) to provide data and training related to improving transition outcomes for youth with disabilities.
KYPSO is funded by the Kentucky Department of Education/Office of Special Education and Early Learning (KDE/OSEEL). We are in the process of seeking additional external funding to conduct further research into factors predictive of post-school success for Kentucky youth.
We hope our website will serve as a valuable resource for enhancing education and transition services for all students. Please explore our webpage by clicking on the menu items on the left.
YOYO Former Student Interview
The annual Youth One Year Out (YOYO) former student interview is used to collect Post-School Outcome data from Kentucky students who exited high school in the previous school year, had an Individualized Education Program (IEP) in place at the time of exit, and exited by graduation with a regular diploma, alternative diploma, reached maximum age, or dropped out. The YOYO is conducted each year from April 1 to August 31, and interviews are collected using KYPSO’s secure Data Collection & Reporting platform. After the interviews are concluded, KYPSO reviews and analyzes the data. Learn more about the who, what, when, and why of the YOYO:
